Together with the city and partners abroad, an extensive programme was developed during the past two years based on cultural, scientific, educational, heritage(tourism) and social perspectives.
The following principles were crucial here:
Local ownership: the programme was designed by and with Leiden-based organizations.
International and inclusive perspective: the programme aims to focus on perspectives that were previously largely neglected.
Sustainable programming: the programme should have an impact in the city well beyond 2020, so long-term program and relation building were emphasized.
